The Archiving Process

Marketo provides the capability to convert existing folders into archive folders. The archiving process affects different aspects of your content:

  • Search Visibility: Once archived, the folder and its assets become invisible in search results. Searching for a program or event within an archive folder won’t yield results in the standard view. However, archived folders can still be located using the global search function (more on that later).
  • Auto-suggestions: Assets within archived folders no longer appear in auto-suggestions. This helps to streamline suggestions within the Design Studio when creating emails or landing pages by focusing on your active content.
  • Template Availability: Archive templates won’t be available for selection when creating new emails or landing pages in Design Studio.

What Doesn’t Change?

While some functionalities are restricted, archiving offers key benefits:

  • Archived Content Accessibility: Global search can still find archived folders and their content. This ensures you can locate past campaigns and assets when needed.
  • Continued Functionality: Any asset that is currently in use will continue to function even after it’s archived. This means your existing campaigns will run smoothly without interruption.
  • Reporting with Archived Data: You can use filters to select archived assets for inclusion in reports. This allows you to analyze historical data alongside your current marketing initiatives.
